Georgetown McDonough is housed in one of Georgetown’s newest structures, the Rafik B. Hariri building. It is located just north of the football field and south of the Georgetown hospital.

Metrorail and Metrobus
Washington, D.C.’s, Metrorail is a clean, convenient subway system that stops within a 20-30 minute walk to Georgetown. Students also can use the Metrobus bus system to access campus. Consult the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority for specific route and fare information.

Visitors to campus may use the free Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) when arriving via the Dupont or Rosslyn metro stations.

Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS)
The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle operates five routes connecting the campus to Metrorail stations at Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., at Rosslyn in Virginia, at the Georgetown Law Center on Capitol Hill, and to Georgetown University offices on Wisconsin Avenue. The free service is available to anyone visiting the Georgetown University campus.

From the Dupont Circle Metro Station (Red Line): The Dupont Circle GUTS bus departs from the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and 20th Street, NW, near the Dupont Circle Metro station. The bus arrives on campus adjacent to the Kober-Cogan Building (which is part of the Georgetown Hospital complex). Bear right along the street in front of the bus stop, then bear left as the sidewalk splits and slopes up. Proceed up the stairs next to the small clock tower on your right, and enter the Leavey Student Center.

Upon entering Leavey, the bookstore will be directly in front of you. Bear left, passing the bookstore on your right and the Uncommon Grounds coffee shop on your left. Prior to entering the food court ahead, turn left, walk down a short hallway and then turn right to exit the student lounge through the frosted double doors that are under a sign that reads “South Gallery Main Hallway.” Continue down the hallway, passing the Faculty Club Restaurant on your right, until you see an exit to a courtyard on your left. Exit Leavey through these doors on the left, and walk through the courtyard to enter the Rafik B. Hariri Building. You will enter the building on the third floor. From the Rosslyn Metro Station (Blue and Orange Lines): The Rosslyn GUTS bus departs from the corner of 19th and Moore Streets near the Rosslyn Metro station. The bus arrives on campus at West Road, just outside of Reynolds Hall. From the bus stop, turn left, and walk up the hill. You will pass a power facility on your left and a football field on your right. At the top of the football field, you will find the Rafik B. Hariri Building (a large gray stone building) on your right. You will enter the building on the first floor. View the Rosslyn GUTS shuttle schedule.

DC Circulator
The DC Circulator is a bus service with an East/West route running from Union Station to Georgetown and a North/South route running between the Convention Center and the Southwest Waterfront every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The cost is only $1.

Taxi
Taxis may enter campus through the Reservoir Road Entrance #1 to drop off in front of the Georgetown Hotel and Conference Center, located at 3800 Reservoir Road, Washington, DC 20057. From the Hotel and Conference Center, it is a quick walk to the Hariri Building. From the Conference Center entrance, proceed straight through the hotel lobby and into the Sports Hall of Fame. Turn left at the end of the hallway, and exit through the first glass door on your right leading to an esplanade. When you cross the outdoor area you will enter the Rafik B. Hariri Building on the 3rd floor.

From Baltimore and Points North: Follow I-95 South and exit onto 495 West (Capital Beltway). Continue on 495 to the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, D.C., and exit onto the Key Bridge. Cross the Key Bridge into Washington, D.C., and turn immediately left onto M Street, NW. Follow directions for visitor parking below.

From Richmond and Points South: Follow I-95 North to 395 to Route 27 (Washington Boulevard). Once on Route 27, watch for signs that lead you through Rosslyn to the Key Bridge. Follow the signs, and cross the Key Bridge into Washington, D.C., then immediately turn left onto M Street, NW. Follow directions for visitor parking below.

From Pittsburgh and Points Northwest: Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Exit 12 (Breezewood). Follow I-70 South to Frederick, where 270 South begins, and continue on 270 South toward Washington, D.C. When 270 South intersects with 495 (Capital Beltway), keep right and follow 495 toward Northern Virginia. Continue on 495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway. Follow the parkway toward Washington, and exit onto the Key Bridge. Cross the Key Bridge into Washington, D.C., and immediately turn left onto M Street, NW. Follow directions for visitor parking below.

From Virginia and Points Southwest: Follow I-66 Eastbound until Exit 73 (Rosslyn/Key Bridge/Lee Highway). Follow Lee Highway until the traffic light to turn left onto Lynn Street and the Key Bridge. Cross into Washington, D.C., then immediately turn left onto M Street, NW. Follow directions for visitor parking below.

Note that during the morning rush hour (from 6:30 to 9 a.m.), I-66 East is designated HOV only once travelers pass the Beltway and requires that there are two or more people in the vehicle. On the return trip, I-66 West is designated HOV only during the evening rush hour (4-6:30 p.m.). If you are traveling alone during those times, you may opt to take the Vienna Metro to the Rosslyn station or travel via the Beltway’s inner loop to the George Washington Parkway.

On-Campus Parking
Georgetown offers visitor parking in the Southwest Garage, which is accessible via Canal Road, and in the Leavey Parking Garage, which is accessible via Reservoir Road.

Southwest Garage: From downtown Washington, follow M Street until it becomes Canal Road. From Arlington, cross the Key Bridge, and turn left on M Street NW. After passing the gas station on your right (just beyond the Key Bridge), turn right at the next traffic light to enter the university. Follow the access road up the hill, and you will find the entrance to the Southwest Garage (marked “visitor parking”) on your right. Parking is available on an hourly basis or for a flat rate of $20 per day. Cars must be moved from the garage no later than 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Please note that the garage only accepts cash payments, and payment is paid upon entering the garage.

After parking, exit the garage via the elevator on the wall opposite where you entered the garage, which brings you to the Southwest Quad. You will see a football field directly in front of you. The Rafik B. Hariri Building is the large gray stone building at the top of the hill. You will enter the building on the first floor.

Leavey Parking Garage: The Leavey Parking Garage can be accessed via Entrance #1 off of Reservoir Road and is adjacent to Georgetown Hospital. Parking is available for $25 a day. This garage accepts cash or credit card payments upon exit.

After parking, exit the parking lot in the elevator leading to the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center. Walk through the hotel lobby and turn left at the end of the hallway through the Sports Hall of Fame. Exit through the first glass door on your right leading to an esplanade. When you cross the outdoor area you will enter the Rafik B. Hariri Building on the 3rd floor.

Street parking in Georgetown is limited and strictly enforced by Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department and Department of Public Works. Most streets require a Zone 2 residential permit issued by the District of Columbia for parking for longer than two hours. A limited number of metered spaces are available on Reservoir Road, 37th Street, and Prospect Street.

Traveling by Train to Union Station
Take the Metro Red Line train in the direction of Shady Grove/ Grosvenor to the Dupont Circle station. Follow the directions for the Dupont GUTS shuttle bus above. Alternatively, you may take a taxi to campus for approximately $15-25, depending on the time of day/ traffic.

Traveling by Plane to Regional Airports
The Washington, D.C., area is served by the three airports, listed below in order of the least to greatest distance from campus.

From Reagan National Airport (DCA): Take the Metro’s Blue Line in the direction of Largo Town Center. Exit the Metro at the Rosslyn Station, and follow the directions for the Rosslyn Metro GUTS shuttle bus above. Alternatively, you may take a taxi directly from the airport to campus, which will cost approximately $15-25, depending on the time of day/ traffic.

From Dulles International Airport (IAD): Take the Metro Bus 5A from the airport to the Rosslyn Metro station. Follow the directions for the Rosslyn Metro GUTS shuttle bus above. Alternatively, you may take a taxi directly from the airport to campus, which will cost approximately $60-75, depending on the time of day and traffic.

From Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI):
By train: Take the free airport shuttle to the BWI train station. Amtrak trains travel frequently from BWI to Union Station. MARC trains run Monday through Friday from BWI to Union Station. When you arrive at Union Station, follow the directions above.

By Metro: Take the B30 Express Metro Bus to the Greenbelt Metro station (Green Line). Board the Metro and, at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station, switch train lines to the Blue Line (in the direction of Franconia-Springfield). Exit the Metro at the Rosslyn Station, and follow the directions for the Rosslyn Metro GUTS shuttle bus above.

By taxi: You may take a taxi directly from the airport to campus, which will cost approximately $90-120, depending on the time of day/ traffic.

Walking Directions from the Georgetown University Gates
Upon entering campus through the front gates at the corner of 37th and O Streets NW, you will be facing Healy Hall. You will see a diagonal brick path to your right, which you should follow across Copley Lawn. Continue through the bricked Red Square under an arch.

Walk up the short flight of stairs ahead, and continue past the Reiss Building on your left. Shortly after passing Reiss, you will see a larger flight of stairs to your left, next to a small clock tower. Climb the stairs, and enter the Leavey Student Center.

Upon entering Leavey, the bookstore will be directly in front of you. Bear left, passing the bookstore on your right and the Uncommon Grounds coffee shop on your left.
