MCDONOUGH RECRUITER'S GUIDE:
ON-CAMPUS LOGISTICS

Visiting Georgetown

Reserve a Date

Reservations for corporate presentations and campus interviews begin in May. We encourage recruiters to reserve dates early, as the schedule fills quickly. Scheduling preference is based on the Corporate Affiliates Program (CAP). The top two levels may begin booking April 21st and the next two levels may begin booking on April 28th. General booking begins on May 5th.

Presentations

Presentations can be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning on Tuesday, August 26th. Occasionally, times during the lunch hour are available as well. Corporate Presentations held in the Car Barn are free of charge and held in large classrooms (seats approx. 70) equipped with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

You may choose to use the Leavey Center in the Marriott Conference Center at (202) 687-3242 on the main campus for your presentation, but we ask that you please confirm your presentation date with us prior to contacting Marriott in order to avoid possible scheduling conflicts. We will do our best to accommodate you on the date you request.

Because presentations are often held during typical meal times, many companies choose to arrange a reception afterwards with light food and drinks. We recommend two caterers (1) Matters of Taste at (301) 384-0016 and (2) Quite a Stir Catering at (202) 298-6818

You may send brochures or promotional items to our offices:

Georgetown University
MBA Career Management Office
Attn:  Employer Relations
3520 Prospect Street, NW Suite 210
Washington, DC 20057
(202) 687-3741

Please mark them clearly with "Hold for (company name)/ presentation on (date)".

Interview Day

The Career Management office opens at 8:15 AM on interview days.  When you arrive, you will receive a packet including your schedule, the resumes of the interview candidates and feedback forms. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Standard interview days are from 9am - 5pm.  The following interview schedules are available:

  • 30 minute interviews (13 students)
  • 45 minute interviews (8 students)
  • 60 minute interviews (6 students)
  • Back-to-Back interviews: each student will have two interviews back-to-back.

Normally, there are two or three 15-minute breaks and one 60-minute lunch break. Breaks can be adjusted to meet your needs.

Tips for a Successful Presentation

  • Arrive 15-30 minutes early to ensure the proper equipment and/or refreshment set-up and to locate any boxes that were shipped to us.
  • Bring as many company representatives as needed for an informal discussion following the presentation. It is an essential part of the program. Include Georgetown alumni, recent hires and top executives to give students a broad perspective on your firm.
  • Discuss your corporate culture and what sets your organization apart.
  • Invite all MBA students even if you are only expecting to hire graduating students for full-time positions. It never hurts to get people interested early!
  • Be prepared to answer questions about hiring summer interns and international students, and be knowledgeable about your timing and interview process.
  • Address what types of candidates you are looking for -- backgrounds, characteristics and skills.
