Focus on Leadership

At Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, all MBA students are required to complete two leadership-related courses:  Leadership and Business Ethics (LBE) I and II.  We tie leadership and ethics together because we believe that they are inextricably linked, and we want our students to appreciate this connection.  All MBA students will also participate in a week-long intensive Leadership Residency which engages them in a thorough exploration of personal and organizational leadership. Guided by faculty and inspired by accomplished speakers, students learn about leadership though cases, readings, self-assessment, and coaching.  Students will develop their own Personal Leadership Plan, which integrates leading theories, current world context, and their own experiences to create a clear path to achieve their long term goals.

In addition, students enjoy the many speakers brought to Georgetown's McDonough School of Business through our Distinguished Leaders Series and Leaders Breakfast Series. The MSB Distinguished Leaders Series takes place in large group settings, to allow for maximum attendance.  The MSB Leaders Breakfast Series is more intimate, providing space for no more than 25 students in order to maximize interaction and dialogue.  Our students really appreciate the opportunity to have breakfast with well-known leaders such as Phillip Carroll (retired Shell CEO), Richard Frank (CEO of Darby Overseas Investments Ltd.), Robin Michel (Executive Vice President and General Manager of Giant Foods USA), Susan Schwab (former US Trade Representative), Jose Maria Aznar (former Prime Minister of Spain), and Aleksander Kwasniewski (former President of Poland).
