McDonough Advances to 2nd Among Schools with Online MSF Programs in U.S. News Best Online Business Degrees Ranking

Georgetown McDonough advanced six positions to 6th overall in the U.S. News annual ranking of online graduate business programs. Based on data from the school’s online Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program, McDonough is 2nd among schools with online MSF degrees, up from 4th last year.

“Georgetown’s MSF was designed with the flexibility of an online degree while also allowing students to experience Georgetown McDonough’s collaborative sense of community, academic rigor, and reputation among employers,” said Allan Eberhart, senior associate dean for the MSF program and professor of finance. “We also continue to innovate our offerings, with a Career Boot Camp, options for part-time or full-time study, and a new data science course, ensuring our graduates are prepared for success.”

For the ranking, U.S. News evaluated online programs (excluding MBAs) from multiple business disciplines in the areas of student engagement, admissions selectivity, student services and technology, faculty credentials and teaching, and peer assessment. U.S. News also ranks online business degrees for their support of veterans, and on that list, McDonough was 5th overall and 3rd among schools that offer an online MSF degree.

The Georgetown MSF offers asynchronous learning through its Anytime Media platform and synchronous weekly case discussions in its blended classroom, where students have the option to attend in person* or remotely from anywhere in the world. It also includes the signature Global Consulting Project course, where students consult for a company abroad and then travel to present recommendations to senior leadership.

The program offers two tracks: part-time and full-time. Students can complete the program part time while continuing to work full time, or on a full-time basis with supplemental career preparation coursework to help students pursue an internship or a full-time job as well as additional elective course offerings. Students in both tracks are united into a single cohort for the duration of the program to encourage camaraderie and colearning among classmates.
