“The Kroger-Albertsons merger would create the potential for the combined firm to lower both its distribution costs and the prices it pays wholesalers to acquire its products,” said John Mayo, the Elsa Carlson McDonough Chair of Business Administration and professor of economics, business and public policy at the McDonough School of Business. “If this were to happen, the combined Kroger-Albertsons, with its reduced costs, could become a more formidable competitor to these large competitors.”
