  • MBAs Focus on Diversity and International Fun

    “At Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, everyone helps each other. It’s something that’s done, and not just said,” observed Julie Sender, a prospective MBA Evening Program student who attended the school’s December 7 Focus on Diversity Day.

    Sender and 97 other prospective Full-time and Evening MBA students came to Georgetown McDonough for a day of diversity-related conversations, followed by the school’s annual International Festival, which is organized by the students in the MBA International Club.

    One year ago, Allison Maas was preparing to graduate from the Georgetown McDonough School of Business with an Executive MBA degree. She signed up for the school’s Global Career Conference and Expo after hearing that General Electric would be there. Armed with her resume, she approached the GE table and introduced herself.

  • First Year Seminar Case Competition Benefits DC’s Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home

    This fall, undergraduate students in the First Year Seminar program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business were asked to develop a fundraising plan for the Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home, a facility that provides short-term, long-term, and rehabilitative care to a diverse population of more than 100 women and men in D.C. This year's winning team developed a plan to host an annual gala that would generate enough income to see the facility turn cash-flow positive. Members of the winning team include Tucker Cowden, Drew Diprinzio, Misty Li, and Erica Tsai.

  • School's Out for 25 DCPS Principals Graduating from Georgetown's Executive Master's in Leadership Program

    The inaugural cohort of District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) principals participating in a new, first-ever specialized leadership master’s program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will graduate on Saturday, December 7, 2013. The DCPS Executive Master’s in Leadership (EML) Program was created to equip local principals and administrators with the skills and knowledge necessary to promote excellence within the school system.

  • Students Win First Place in Public Health Competition

    Five Georgetown University students joined together to form the winning team in a regional public health competition. Team participants hail from business, medicine, public policy, and healthcare management majors and programs. Darshana Prakasam (McDonough School of Business), Chandani Desi (Georgetown College), Claire Lang (Georgetown College), Megan Prior (Medical School), and Suzanne Huszagh (School of Nursing and Public Health) came in first place with their proposal to reduce hate crimes against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth in the District.   • Executive Master’s in Leadership Students Honored by D.C. Public Schools

    Two of the participants in the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business for District of Columbia Public Schools principals Executive Master’s in Leadership Program recently received the 2013 Rubenstein Award for School Leaders. Janeece C. Docal, principal at Powell Elementary School, and Natalie Gordon, principal at Jefferson Academy, both were honored with the award, which is voted on by District of Columbia Public Schools educators, students, parents, and community members. The event took place on November 4 at the Kennedy Center.
