  • Dean's Leadership Series: A Conversation with T. Boone Pickens

    On Thursday, April 17, legendary Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens joined students, faculty and staff at the McDonough School of Business for an informal discussion about the future of American energy policy. Mr. Pickens is the founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, one of the nation's most successful energy-oriented investment funds with more than $4 billion under management.

  • Bloomberg: Global Warming Tests America's Leadership

    Georgetown University welcomed the second annual Newsweek Global Environment Leadership Conference to campus last week. Approximately 350 industry leaders, scholars, and policymakers participated in panel discussions examining issues related to global warming and the economy. The keynote address this year was delivered by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

  • Undergraduate Non-Profit Case Competition Hosted by McDonough and Hilltop Consultants

    On the weekend of March 27th, twelve teams representing some of the country's top undergraduate business programs competed in the Business Strategy Challenge (BSC), a business case competition hosted by Hilltop Consultants and the McDonough School of Business. Hilltop Consultants is an undergraduate, student-run consulting organization that began hosting this competition in 2005. The case was presented on Thursday night, and teams of four students had 36 hours to develop strategic recommendations for the client organization.

  • McDonough Improves Position in U.S. News and World Report MBA Rankings

    Washington, DC -- Georgetown's McDonough School of Business moved up three places on U.S.News and World Reports' list of the best business schools in the country. In their latest report, "America's Best Grad Schools 2008," Georgetown rose to #22 among U.S. MBA programs, up from #25 in 2007.

  • Professor James Angel Testifies Before U.S. Senate Committee

    James Angel, Associate Professor in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, recently testified before the U.S. Senate Committee for Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs regarding three legislative discussion drafts to control excessive speculation in the commodity markets. Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Ranking Member, Susan Collins, R-Me., heard the testimony.

    Three proposals were put forth and are meant to bring relief to consumers.
