Washington, DC - Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business has appointed Dr. Marilyn A. Morgan, academician and former business executive, as Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Programs, effective October 1. She will oversee the offices of admissions, career management, and student life.

Morgan most recently held the position of Assistant Dean at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where she directed the Global Executive M.B.A. program. She also served as president of Disc Education Technology, an educational software company in Raleigh, N.C., from 1989 to 1999.

"We are pleased to have Dr. Morgan, with her strong academic and business experience, join the McDonough School. She will assist us greatly as the M.B.A. program continues to rise in prominence," says Christopher Puto, dean of the McDonough School.

Morgan, recruited from a list of national candidates, replaces former associate dean Lawrence Abeln, who left the McDonough School in July to complete his doctorate studies at Cambridge University.

Morgan served as associate professor of management at the University of Virginia from 1982 to 1989, and as assistant professor of management at the University of Pennsylvania from 1977 to 1982. She received her M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and a B.S. from Mary Washington College.
