  • Executives to Share Thoughts on Leadership with MBA Students Over Breakfast

    The MBA Leaders Breakfast Series will continue throughout the spring semester, bringing business executives and MBA Full-Time and Evening Program students together to share a meal and thoughts on leadership.

    Sixteen business leaders from a variety of industries are slated to participate in the series, which is held each semester. At the breakfasts, the executives speak to a small group of students about leadership and then engage in discussion through a question-and-answer session.

  • Georgetown Women in Business Holds Leadership Conference

    In December, Georgetown Women in Business (GWiB) held its first daylong leadership conference, titled Breaking Ceilings and Building Bridges. More than 100 people, including GWiB members, prospective students, alumni, and Georgetown faculty, braved the snowy weather to attend the conference.

    The keynote lecture was delivered by Ambassador to Lichtenstein Claudia Fritsche who discussed the many political roles she has held, as well as the importance of setting goals and striving to reach them.

  • Alumna Wins MillerCoors’ 2009 Leadership Award

    Lizette Jenness Olmos, national communications director of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and graduate of Georgetown University’s Executive Master’s in Leadership program, was chosen to be the 2009 MillerCoors’ Líder of the Year.

    Olmos was chosen through public vote on the MillerCoors Líderes Web site from among 12 finalists. The award recognizes leaders in the Hispanic community.

  • Journal Marks 40th Anniversary of Research by Prof. Keith Ord

    The journal Geographical Analysis has devoted its October 2009 issue to the 40th anniversary of “The Problem of Spatial Autocorrelation,” an article written by Keith Ord, professor of operations and information management at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, and colleague Andrew Cliff, professor of theoretical geography at the University of Cambridge.

  • MBA Students Give Back for the Holidays

    MBA students at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business have worked to make the holidays brighter by raising money and collecting donations for local charities.

    Students enrolled in the MBA Full-Time Program collected donations for Toys for Tots in conjunction with MBA Volunteers. The toy drive included a competition among cohorts, with the Hoya Cohort leading the way with 58 donations. As a result, they received either reindeer antlers or elf hats to wear at their holiday party on Dec. 4. The students collected a total of 146 toys and $250 for the charity.

    The fourth edition of Visiting Professor of Marketing Gary Bamossy’s Consumer Behavior textbook will be published in 2010 by Prentice Hall.

  • Professors Win Best Paper Award for Research on Business Ethics

    Two professors at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business recently received the “Best Paper” award for their research on “The Ethics of Speculation” at the 16th Annual International Conference Promoting Business Ethics, held in October.

    Associate Professor of Finance James Angel and Professor of Management Douglas McCabe were honored for the paper they presented at the 2008 conference. The research will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Business Ethics.
