    Entrepreneurs emerge from Georgetown University each year, but this summer the McDonough School of Business established itself as a home for their businesses by serving as an incubator for 15 groups of entrepreneurs from across campus.

    The 11-week StartUpHoyas program, sponsored by the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative, provided workspace in the Rafik B. Hariri Building; mentoring and advising­ from entrepreneurs-in-residence­, faculty, and business ­professionals; and networking events with the growing entrepreneurship community in Washington, D.C.

  • Experts Discuss Massachusetts Health Reform Law

    Health reform experts gathered at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business on September 10 to discuss the role of local businesses in crafting the Massachusetts health reform law six years ago.

    The panel discussion, titled The Impact of Health Reform on Business in Massachusetts: Lessons from Six Years of Experience, was moderated by the dean of the business school, David Thomas, and was co-sponsored by Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

  • Chris Long Receives Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management

    Chris Long, assistant professor of management at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, was honored with the "Best Paper - Conflict in Context" award for his research on “How Managers’ Trust and Control Activities Influence Subordinates’ Perceptions” by the Conflict Management Division of the Academy of Management. This award is given to an outstanding field-based paper studying organizational, political, or social conflict.

    The Georgetown University McDonough School of Business chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international scholastic honor society in the field of business administration, recently was named a premier chapter. The chapter also was cited for having faculty officers who work diligently to enhance Beta Gamma Sigma’s stature at the school. Professor Douglas McCabe is president of the chapter and Professor of the Practice Lynn Doran is secretary.
