  • Georgetown's McDonough School of Business Team Places Second in Booz Allen Hamilton Case Competition

    Students Lynn Sha, Patrick Florit, Brandon Alexander, and Raja Das

    Georgetown University students placed second in the final round of the Booz Allen Hamilton 2009 Case Competition in McLean, VA, on February 27. Students were asked to develop recommendations for improving the reviewer selection and proposal review process for the Grants Agency, a fictitious federal agency whose mission includes providing research grants. Teams had to perform a high-level case analysis and develop an implementation plan, a change management plan, and measures of success.

  • Georgetown University Business Students Take Second Place at Business Strategy Challenge Case Competition

    A team of undergraduate students in Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business placed second out of 11 institutions at the invitation-only 2009 Business Strategy Challenge (BSC), held at Georgetown University February 26-28. The BSC, hosted by Hilltop Consultants and Georgetown's McDonough School of Business, is the only undergraduate case competition in the country focused on non-profits. This approach presents unique challenges to case competition competitors, as non-profits have limited resources, different legal requirements, and no profit incentives.

  • MBA Students Organize Basketball Tournament to Benefit Teach for America

    Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business MBA students raised about $8,500 for the Washington, D.C., chapter of Teach for America in the 20th annual Ultimate 4 Basketball Tournament, held February 14 and 15. This student-run event, hosted each year at Georgetown, is the longest-running MBA basketball tournament in the country.

  • MBA Students Place Second at Krannert Case Competition

    Four Georgetown University McDonough School of Business MBA students placed second in the First Annual Human Capital Case Competition at Perdue University's Krannert School of Management January 30. The team was composed of students Dan Berger, Sung Jun Cho, Lin Qing, and Vidian Tolka. The task was to design a performance management system for a large chemical company. The other schools to place in the competition included Purdue in first place and Hult International School of Business in third. Each student on the Georgetown team won $1,000 for placing second, totaling $4,000.
