    Imagine you have to attend a meeting in a rough neighborhood. You know from looking up crime statistics that there is a 2.5 percent chance you will be mugged in this part of town. You go anyway, and you do not get mugged. Then you go to another meeting, and another, and you continue to return home safely.

    The more you go to that neighborhood without getting mugged, the more comfortable you start to feel. However, there is still a 2.5 percent chance you will be mugged next time.

As I come up here, I am reminded by my daughter and my son who typically like to kid with their friends that I look like Harry Potter, and I certainly don't look here a lot like a banker, but as I was putting this garb on, and just walking up here, it really gave me that impression again, and it reminded me that Harry Potter has a lot of tricks down his bag and I don't, so I'll try my best.

  • Class of 2009 Celebrates Commencements May 15 and 16

    Undergraduate students received their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees in McDonough Arena May 16.

    The celebratory mood was high among the graduates of Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business at their commencements May 15 and 16. On Friday, May 15, 345 graduate students received Master of Business Administration degrees on Healy Lawn. The next day, 324 seniors received Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees in McDonough Arena.
