Business Panels at John Carroll Weekend in Rome

On April 15, as part of Georgetown’s John Carroll Weekend activities in Rome, the McDonough School of Business hosted four panels on global topics. McDonough’s Dean David A. Thomas moderated a panel with School of Foreign Service Dean Joel Hellman, Georgetown College Dean Chester Gillis, Georgetown McDonough professor Bob Bies, and Rev. Kevin O’Brien to discuss Global Leadership and Pope Francis.  Later that morning, professor Ricardo Ernst hosted a panel on Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Georgetown McDonough Senior Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Programs Norean Sharpe moderated a panel on Global Business: Encouraging and Managing Growth in a Global Economy, featuring Fabrizio Freda (CEO, Estee Lauder Companies) and Franck Moison (Vice Chairman, Colgate – Palmolive). The following day, Georgetown McDonough professor Cathy Tinsley moderated a panel on Women’s Leadership featuring House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

This year’s John Carroll Weekend was well attended, with more than 1,000 alumni and parents enjoying the educational panels and cultural activities in Rome. Next year’s event will be in Austin, Texas.
