California Alumni Form Wall Street Alliance West
Georgetown University alumni gathered November 19 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills for the launch of the new Wall Street Alliance West group. The original Wall Street Alliance, which is located in New York City and founded in 1995, currently has over 8,000 members. The Wall Street Alliances work to raise Georgetown's profile and that of its alumni, parents, and friends in finance; create and participate in networking opportunities for financial professionals; provide networking, mentoring and scholarship support to current and future Georgetown students, and build relationships between members' firms and the university for the mutually beneficial exchange of resources.
Alumni Mary Machado Schammel (C ’80) and Sam Bakhshandehpour (B '97), led the event, which included a panel discussion on The Competitiveness of U.S. Financial Markets. Norean Sharpe, senior associate dean and director of the Undergraduate Program, attended and introduced the panelists: Bakhshandehpour; Harry McMahon (P '12), executive vice chairman of Global Corporate and Investment Banking for Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Judy Posnikoff, managing director and co-founder of PAAMCO, and James Argalas, (F'93), founder and principal of Presidio Union Management. Reena Aggarwal, Robert E. McDonough Professor of Business Administration and Finance and director Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy, served as moderator.
