Hundreds Gather for Inaugural Africa Business Conference

More than 300 students and business leaders came together at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business on Saturday, Feb. 6, for “Africa Rising: Business in Action.” The day-long conference, sponsored by Georgetown McDonough and the Walsh School of Foreign Service African Studies Program, showcased the growth and impact of the private sector across the African continent and facilitated a discussion on opportunities to continue this success.

Leaders from across Africa discussed the developments of various industries, including banking, private equity, technology, and music, and top executives from global organizations provided insight during panel discussions. Ayotade Oyinlola, global head of human resources for IHS Towers, spoke during the morning keynote address; Fuse ODG, Afrobeats musician, headlined the afternoon music industry session; and John Vitalo (B’90), CEO of Atlas Mara, closed out the day’s program.
