Spencer Walsh, a junior at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, recently passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam conducted last December. This achievement makes Walsh among the youngest individuals in the world to pass the first level.

“I have a strong passion and background in finance and investing, and my career goal is to eventually become involved with financial and technological entrepreneurship,” Walsh said. “The CFA exams provide assurance that you actually know your stuff about financial statements, equity, and fixed income investing, portfolio management, and economics. Passing the Level 1 exam helps immediately in terms of internships and job opportunities.”

The CFA charter is a globally recognized qualification obtained by financial and investment professionals and focuses on portfolio management and financial analysis.
