MBA Students Travel to California For Annual CalTrek Event

Every January, MBA students have the opportunity to escape chilly East Coast temperatures and travel west to California. This year, 35 Full-time and Evening Program MBA students participated in the 2016 MBA CalTrek trip to the Golden State, meeting with companies and recruiters established on the West Coast, as well as networking with local Georgetown University alumni.

Sponsored by Georgetown’s MBA California Business Alliance, CalTrek is a student group that facilitates and organizes the annual trip to the San Francisco Bay and Silicon Valley areas. This year, students visited Adobe, Andreessen Horowitz, Chegg, FreeWheel, Google, HP, JP Morgan, and Kaiser Permanente, among other companies.

The students also attended an alumni reception in San Francisco, featuring a conversation with Doug Knopper (MBA ’85), co-founder and co-CEO of FreeWheel Media. FreeWheel Media provides cutting-edge technology that helps video publishers thrive within the evolving media landscape. Knopper founded FreeWheel Media in 2007 and has helped drive the company’s mission, value, and strategy, providing long-lasting solutions to some of the largest entertainment companies in the world, including ESPN, VEVO, NBC Universal, DirecTV, Turner, AOL, and more. The alumni reception also featured a short performance by actor and comedian Johnno Wilson (C ’07).
