Students Visit Banks, Nasdaq in New York

In April, a group of Georgetown University McDonough School of Business freshmen and sophomores traveled with Professor Lynn Doran to New York for the annual Financial Management Association (FMA) trip. Doran, professor of the practice of finance, is faculty advisor of the FMA, the undergraduate finance club at Georgetown McDonough. The school’s Center for Financial Markets and Policy, for which Doran serves as associate director for student programs, sponsored the trip.

Each year, students visit several banks and a financial landmark in New York. This year, students visited JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and UBS, where they met with Georgetown alumni and recruiters. The students also visited Nasdaq’s headquarters in Times Square and participated in the closing bell ceremony. While at Nasdaq, students met with Guy Adami (B ’86) and Tim Seymour (B ’88), commentators of MSNBC’s “Fast Money,” and watched a live broadcast of the show.

This annual trip is a unique experience for undergraduate students to learn first-hand about the financial services industry and working on Wall Street.
