The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has announced its new board of directors, which includes William Novelli, Georgetown McDonough School of Business distinguished professor of the practice and founder of the school’s Global Social Enterprise Initiative.

Novelli, who also is the former CEO of AARP, has focused on such health issues as changing public policies around how children are exposed to messages about smoking, reforming advanced illness care, and improving the quality of life for older generations throughout his career. The board’s term will run until November 2014. The Association of American Medical Colleges is a nonprofit association representing all 141 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools.
