  • Brenkert Earns Lifetime Achievement Award for Service to Business Ethics

    George Brenkert, who recently retired from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business as a professor of business ethics, earned the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Business Ethics in recognition of a “Career of Outstanding Service to the Field of Business Ethics.” The society presented the award to Brenkert during its 34th Annual Meeting 9-11, 2013.

  • A Global Experience Leader Awarded International Management Outstanding Educator Distinction

    José de la Torre, visiting professor and a leader of Georgetown McDonough’s Global Experience in Lima and Buenos Aires, was awarded the International Management (IM) Division Outstanding Educator of the Year (2013) by the Academy of Management on August 12.  He was chosen for his extraordinary contributions to international management education.

  • Tech Entrepreneur Maps Path for Success

    While at Georgetown McDonough, David Johnson (MBA’04) saw an opportunity. This opportunity eventually became Atlas Digital Solutions LLC, a company he founded in 2005, and continues to serve as CEO.  Atlas specializes in providing data protection solutions, with core clients diversified across the financial, insurance, legal, and healthcare industries.

  • New Corporate International Master’s Program Launches in D.C.

    Last week, McDonough School of Business, ESADE Business School in Spain, and Brazilian Business School EBAPE/Fundação Getulio Vargas launched the Corporate International Master’s (CIM) Program. This year-long program is designed for experienced professionals and executives interested in a world-class business education with a strong international perspective who also wish to maintain their personal and professional schedules.

  • Jason Schloetzer Appointed to The Accounting Review Editorial Board

    The Accounting Review has appointed Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Assistant Professor Jason Schloetzer to its Editorial Advisory and Review Board. The Accounting Review, which is published six times a year, is the premier journal sponsored by the American Accounting Association and is among the top three academic accounting journals in the world. The journal publishes articles that report the results of accounting research and explains and illustrates related research methodology.

  • GEMBA Students Earn Degrees

    After spending 14 months traveling to nine countries on four continents, the fifth class of the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA program took the stage at Georgetown’s Gaston Hall on July 27 to receive their two diplomas. Each of the 33 students earned a diploma from Georgetown University and one from Spain’s ESADE.

    The GEMBA program, a partnership among Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, Walsh School of Foreign Service, and ESADE Business School, combines excellence in strategy, leadership, management, and policy.

  • Brooks Holtom Recognized by the Academy of Management

    Brooks Holtom, associate professor of management at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, was recently awarded the 2013 Scholarly Achievement Award from the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management, on August 12. The award was given in recognition of his article, “When Employees Are Out of Step with Coworkers: How Job Satisfaction Trajectory and Dispersion Influence Individual- and Unit-Level Voluntary Turnover.”

  • MBA Students Build Houses in Peru

    As part of their Global Experience in Lima in July, Georgetown McDonough MBA Evening Program students participated in building and painting houses at a community in the San Juan de Miraflores district. In partnership with TECHO (Un Techo para mi País), the students spent the day sanding, priming, and painting houses in bright colors picked by the beneficiary families.

  • MBAs Put Jesuit Values in Action in South Africa

    Georgetown McDonough MBA Evening Program students visited a migrant community in Yeoville through the Jesuit Refugee Service (JSR) and the Jesuit Institute, as part of their social responsibility Global Experience in South Africa in July.
