Georgetown McDonough Sophomore Service Project
While many college students spend their spring break vacations sunning themselves on far-away beaches or visiting family and friends around the country, a group of 12 Georgetown McDonough students spent their spring break volunteering in a Philadelphia high school as part of the inaugural Georgetown McDonough Sophomore Service Project.

Georgetown McDonough Students Participate in International Relations Club
This February, 15 Georgetown McDonough undergraduates joined a staff of Georgetown University students in hosting more than 3,000 international high school students for NAIMUN, a 4-day Model United Nations conference in Washington, D.C. The conference is run by NAIMUN in conjunction with the Georgetown International Relations Association’s National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC). Its aim is to give undergraduate students the opportunity to develop and conduct in-depth simulations focused on international affairs and crisis management.

McDonough Faculty Awarded Vicennial Medals for Service to Georgetown University
Three Georgetown McDonough School of Business faculty members recently received gold Vicennial Medals for their two decades of service to the university during this year’s Spring Faculty Convocation held March 19.
Alan Andreasen, professor of marketing; Lamar Reinsch, professor of management; and Elaine Romanelli, senior associate dean for MBA programs and associate professor of strategy and entrepreneurship were among more than 30 professors andacademic and administrative professionals honored during the event. -
Conference to Address Leadership Role of Gulf Cooperation Council in Global Economy
The Center for Financial Markets and Policy at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and Financial Times will host a timely conference on the leadership role of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the global economy at the Dubai International Financial Centre. The program will address the development of the region’s financial sector and its global competitiveness, as well as the function of financial markets and financial institutions in the GCC countries’ economic growth and development.

Successful Leaders Share Insights on Meditation, April 9
Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and the John Main Center for Meditation will present “Meditation and Leadership: Leading from the Center” featuring advice from four successful leaders who will draw upon their personal experiences about the link between meditation and leadership.
The speakers include Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, Laurence Freeman (OSB), founder and director of the World Community for Christian Meditation, and Sean Hagan, general counsel of the IMF. -
Growing Incivility in the Workplace
In a recent Washington Post commentary, Christine Porath, associate professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, wrote about the growing prevalence of rudeness at work, and this is costing businesses money. Porath and Christine Pearson, professor of global leadership at the Thunderbird School of Management, have been studying the impact of bad behavior on the workplace for 15 years.

Undergrads Collect Bras for Free the Girls
Six Georgetown McDonough undergraduates are organizing a university-wide bra drive for the Free the Girls Project as part of their Ethics Project. The Free the Girls organization helps women in Africa, who have been liberated from sex trafficking, restart their lives by running their own businesses selling used bras.
