What is the Global Executive MBA Program?
Georgetown University’s Global Executive MBA Program is an 18-month, accelerated Executive MBA program that concentrates on quantitative, analytical, and core business disciplines with a global focus.
The program meets every other weekend and includes four week-long residencies. It is designed for full-time employees with significant professional experience.
What is the cohort system?
Each incoming class completes all courses, extracurricular activities, international travel, and residencies together as a cohort. The cohort system forges bonds between fellow students, transforming them into trusted colleagues.
What are the admission requirements?
Competitive applicants must have eight or more years of work experience with a demonstrated capacity for leadership, cross-cultural awareness, and international experience. Average work experience in the most recent class was 12.5 years.
Applicants must submit a complete application that includes the following components:
- Application form (submitted online)
- Current résumé (submitted online)
- Personal Statement of Purpose
- Non-refundable application fee
- Two letters of evaluation
- Letter of support from current employer
- Official academic transcripts (evaluated if not in English)
- Official TOEFL score (when applicable)
- GMAT Score Report (if requested to confirm quantitative skills)
After submitting a complete application, leading candidates will be invited to take part in an admissions interview. An interview is required and is conducted by invitation only.
When is a TOEFL score required?
A TOEFL score will be required for students who are not native English speakers, for students who have not completed a degree in a country where English is the primary language, or for students who have not worked in an English speaking country for at least four years.
What kind of work experience is required?
Georgetown Global Executive MBA Program participants represent diverse backgrounds and work experience from all industry sectors. Competitive applicants have a minimum of eight years of mid-level management experience. Experience working overseas or with an international organization is preferable, but not required.
In extraordinary circumstances, candidates with fewer than eight years of experience may apply under the Corporate Scholars Program. These candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience to be considered for the program. In addition, they must submit outstanding recommendations from supervisors and obtain full financial support from their employers.
Can transfer credits be used towards the program?
No. Students are required to complete the entire Georgetown Global Executive MBA Program curriculum as part of a cohort.
When are classes held?
Orientation Day and the Opening Residency take place in August. Classes begin in early September.
Regular classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays of alternating weekends on the main campus of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
In addition, three week-long residencies, one domestic and two international, are conducted at various sites throughout the world each year.
Due to absence from work on alternating Fridays and during residencies, students must secure a letter of support from their current employer.
