    Initial results from the Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiR) program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business demonstrate success in fostering student entrepreneurs in the business school as well as the University’s other schools, including the School of Medicine and Walsh School of Foreign Service.

    MBA Students Finish First in Venture Capital Investment Competition

    On Friday, February 24, 2012, a team of Georgetown McDonough MBAs won the 15th annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Venture Capital Investment Competition held at the Wharton School of Business. According the venture capitalist judging panel, the Georgetown McDonough team did the best job analyzing business plans, conducting due diligence with entrepreneurs, structuring a term sheet, and negotiating a deal. Other schools competing at the event included the University of Virginia, Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, MIT, and the University of Maryland.

    New York Alumni Discuss Capital Formation and Job Creation

    New York-area Georgetown McDonough alumni participated in a thought-provoking discussion of “Capital Formation and Job Creation,” during a February 22, 2012, event at The Princeton Club. The panel discussion was hosted by Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business Office of External Affairs and Alumni Relations and the Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy.

    Hilltop Case Competition Draws Schools from Across the Globe

    In February, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business hosted the 8th Annual McDonough-Hilltop Business Strategy Challenge. The final round of the competition was held on Saturday, February 18, in Lohrfink Auditorium. Twenty undergraduate teams from around the world came to Georgetown to compete, including students from Shantau University in China.

    At a gala event at The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on February 23, Reena Aggarwal, Robert E. McDonough Professor of Business Administration and professor of finance, and director of the Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy at the McDonough School of Business, and Theodore "Ted" J. Leonsis (C'77),founder, chairman, majority owner, and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment were honored at the 12th Annual Wall Street Alliance Scholarship Dinner.

    Georgetown McDonough School of Business Office of Alumni Relations and the Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy present "Capital Formation and Job Creation,” a panel discussion featuring a former SEC commissioner; GAMCO and Blackstone executives; a Financial Times reporter; and Professor Reena Aggarwal. Panelists will discuss the role of capital formation in job creation, trends in U.S. public markets, and the role of private equity.

    MBA students at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will host the 23nd annual Ultimate 4 Basketball Tournament on February 17-19 to benefit local charity Horton’s Kids. A representative from Horton’s Kids, along with children from Washington D.C.’s Ward 8, will accept the donation from the students on Sunday, February 19.
