MBA Career Management Resources

Georgetown's McDonough School of Business provides a wide range of career development services to help students achieve their career goals.  The Career Management office offers extensive resources to help students connect with Employers and Alumni who can help guide them to rewarding careers.

Throughout the academic year Career Management sponsors programs designed to help students develop the necessary skills to help them achieve their goals in today's competitive MBA job market.

Career Resources

Career Management offers print and electronic career-related resources to our students.  Many of the resources are members-only online databases and career-related periodicals and books.

Career Tracks

Students at Georgetown pursue a wide variety of industries and functions.  As you consider your career path, the following Career Tracks will help you envision how you could build across courses and activities to develop the skills necessary to excel in a particular industry.

General Management Career Track

Marketing Career Track

Finance Career Track

Consulting Career Track

Online Databases

Students will have access to our online recruiting system, Georgetown MBA Career Connection (GMCC), for access to job postings, on-campus Employer presentations, Alumni contact information and more.  In addition, you will have access to Hoyasonline, Georgetown's Alumni Directory with contact information for Georgetown graduates around the world.

Company Presentations

Many of our Employers introduce themselves to students through formal company presentations.  These presentations allow students to network with Employers and gain valuable insight into the organizations.

On-Campus Recruiting

On-campus recruiting is an excellent opportunity for students and Employers to interact.  McDonough attracts a wide range of Employers from a variety of fields that are looking to hire McDonough talent.

Treks

The Career Management office works with Student organizations to plan and coordinate visits to companies companies is a variety of  industries.  Past trek destinations have included New York, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong, Boston, Japan, Miami, and Washington, DC

Careers Xtravaganza (CX)

This annual all-day event is the official kick-off for MBA Career Management and the first opportunity of the season for students to interact with Employers.  Past CX events presented students with panel discussions by executives in a variety of business disciplines such as marketing, finance, consulting and emerging markets. Executives highlighted their companies, their job functions and career options and paths for MBAs.  Business school faculty participation merges the business with the academic world.

Functional Days

Functional Days bring together student organizations, executives, alumni and faculty for the exploration and discussion of careers in a featured functional area or industry.

Alumni Practice Interviews (APIs)

During the year, Georgetown alumni help current students practice behavioral and case interview skills. Conducted individually or as part of practice days, APIs are a great way to interact with McDonough School of Business Alumni.
