FULL-TIME MBA CURRICULUM

A Global Curriculum: Preparing highly principled business men and women to think globally and lead responsibly.

The Georgetown MBA Program has emphasized the global business environment since its inception. In direct response to emerging patterns in the business world, Georgetown reviewed its MBA curriculum. After extensive self study and feedback gathered from faculty members, students, alumni, and corporate employers and friends, Georgetown launched an MBA curriculum that is squarely focused on the realities of contemporary business.

The curriculum's organization -- into intensive team-based experiences, courses that integrate various functional areas, and elective courses that offer choice -- is designed to give students the tools and skills they need to anticipate, analyze, and solve increasingly interrelated and complex business challenges.

In the first year, the MBA Program provides a general management framework in accounting, decision sciences, economics, finance, marketing, and management.  Throughout the program, students also participate in four residencies.  Residencies are integrative courses, required of everyone, which complement regular course instruction.  During the summer, students pursue career-focused internships in order to gain valuable experience.

In the second year, students have the opportunity to choose courses according to their individual interests and career goals.  All students also participate in a one-week international residency . Students work on projects for companies in cities around the world, including London, England; Rome, Italy; Prague, Czech Republic; Hong Kong, PRC; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Delhi, India; Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Students then travel in their teams to the county in which their project company is located and present their findings to top management.

Throughout the curriculum, international management strategies, ethical decision making, and strong interpersonal, teamwork, and presentation skills are emphasized and practiced. The Georgetown MBA Program offers something distinctively different in graduate management education. The focus is global - where business is now and in the future.

"Georgetown MBA classes are taught in a module system.  As a result, the curriculum is intense and fosters teamwork.  My classes have made me think beyond the numbers to grasp the substance of a situation."
