Residencies
All students enrolled in Georgetown University’s Full-time MBA Program are required to complete four residencies in addition to their core and elective coursework.
Residencies are week long team-based experiences that immerse MBA students in simulated and real-world business environments to gain practical experience.
Georgetown Means Business Residency: Students begin their first year with the Georgetown Means Business Residency. As a primer to the Georgetown MBA experience, this residency covers the fundamentals of global leadership. Students work in teams to analyze a live case. The week culminates with a case competition in which students present their analysis and recommendations to corporate executives and faculty.
Business and Public Policy Residency: First-year students meet academic experts and political insiders who explain how public policy decisions impact business strategy. Students select from one of several industry tracks, designed to illustrate the relevance of public policy to specific business areas. Student teams are challenged to analyze policy issues and develop advocacy strategies.
Leadership Residency: Between their first and second years, students explore the challenges of leading change in complex organizations. This residency is designed to enrich students' internships and other organization-related activity during the semester by providing a structured lens on the processes, challenges, and best practices of leadership.
Global Residency: Second-year students work in small teams and partner with executives from multinational companies and organizations to address complex business challenges. Students spend seven weeks on campus applying strategic business and analytical skills to develop solutions for their client. The residency culminates with a week-long international trip to present recommendations to senior leadership. In recent years, teams have traveled to Brazil, China, UAE, South Africa, and Vietnam.
