For International Students

Georgetown University has a goal of building an inclusive environment that welcomes people from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. A diverse student body is integral to developing the University’s global mind-set, and Georgetown welcomes students from abroad to join the community of scholars and professionals in Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. International students are encouraged to take advantage of the following resources for making the transition from abroad:

English as a Second Language

The Georgetown MBA Program offers help for students coming from abroad. A three-week Business English course (available only to international students) and a one-week Culture and Communications course (available to all students) are held prior to the beginning of classes.

More information about English as a Second Language programs can be found here.

Financial Aid

All MBA applicants, both United States citizens and international students, are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships.

International students are encouraged to investigate the possibility of aid through their home country’s government or outside agencies. International students may, with a United States citizen as a co-signer or with verifiable assets, qualify for loans through the MBA Loans program or other private loan groups. Information is available at 888-440-LOAN.

Student Activities

There are numerous organizations available to all students and specific globally focused groups as well. This includes the Middle Eastern Graduate Association, the Asia Business Consortium, the European Business Association, the Japan Club, the Latin American Business Association, and the South Asian Business Association. International student organizations host cultural events and activities, organize trips and outings, and consider the global business opportunities in international markets. All events are open to international students and interested U.S. students.
