A key feature of the Georgetown business education is our residencies -- intensive courses, required of all students, which complement regular course instruction. At the start of the first year, you will participate in a general management residency that sets the stage for the first-year curriculum. The second- and third-year residencies cover innovation, leadership and globalization. The globalization residency is the capstone of your experience at Georgetown. You will team with a small group of classmates on a consulting project for a foreign organization or Fortune 500 company with operations overseas. Working with company executives and your professor, you will prepare a solution to a business problem the company is facing, then travel abroad to the company's facilities to finalize your project and make your presentation to senior leadership. In August 2007, teams traveled to India to work on projects for organizations ranging from 3M India and Philips Electronics to the World Bank. Students invariably find this project exciting as they gain a deep understanding of an industry and the importance of national culture in business. |
