Students from the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA Program Publish in Wipro Journal
Student Research was a Result of a Consulting Project in Bangalore, India
Washington, D.C. – Five students enrolled in the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA Program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business recently had their research published in Winsights, a Wipro Council for Industry Research journal.
The article, “Creating a Green Revenue Stream,” is the direct result of an international consultancy project with Wipro that the students engaged in while studying global management in Bangalore. The article appeared in the April to June 2009 issue and was authored by Eva Helmenius, vice president, head of marketing and sales and new markets for Kraft & Kultur I Sverige AB in Sweeden; Rich Kostro, founder and partner of Advenio Strategies, LLC in the United States; Joan Nolan, Systems Engineering Manager at NorthrupGrumman in the United States; Nuno Parreiro, manager for planning and management controul for Sonaecom, SGPS in Portugal; and Blanca Perea Solano, consulting department leader for A.E., S.A. in Spain.
The research examines how outsourcing IT operations such as cooling of datacenters and server virtualization to external vendors creates a more carbon-efficient operation. It also shows how an outsourcing vendor can generate a sustainable revenue stream from its environmental practices.
“The participants in the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA Program travel around the world and are immersed in global business challenges. This research project is one example of how our students helped an organization tackle a relevant issue, and having the research published in Winsights further demonstrates the impact of their hard work,” said Gordon Swartz, associate dean for executive education at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.
The Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA Program is a partnership among Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and Walsh School of Foreign Service and the ESADE Business School in Spain. It is taught over 16 months through six residency modules spanning four continents.
Rather than combining a traditional MBA program with international travel, the Georgetown-ESADE Global Executive MBA immerses students in the worlds of international business, politics, leadership, and management in eight major centers of business and policy-making: Washington, D.C., Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Bangalore, Madrid, Moscow, and New York City.
