Jeff Reid Named Director of Entrepreneurial Studies
Reid Also Will Lead the Development of the School’s Real Estate Initiative
Washington, D.C. – Jeff Reid has been named Director of Entrepreneurial Studies and Real Estate Initiatives at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. In this newly created position, he will lead, develop, and implement strategic initiatives related to entrepreneurial studies and real estate, with a goal of advancing Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business among the hierarchy of leading business schools.
“Entrepreneurship and real estate are two of the most significant sectors in the Washington, D.C., business community – a community in which our school seeks to build even stronger connections. Jeff Reid is a proven leader who has built from scratch an entrepreneurship education program that came to be ranked among the best in the world,” said George Daly, dean of Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.
Reid’s career includes strategic leadership in the arenas of entrepreneurship, education, business development, venture capital, non-profit management, and economic development. He previously served as executive director of the Washington, D.C., office for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, regional general manager for a Virginia-based wireless telecommunications startup company, business development executive for a global law firm, marketing associate for a regional real estate firm, and executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
At UNC-Chapel Hill, he grew an educational organization from its inception to a No. 1 national ranking and was chosen by his peers as one of the top five entrepreneurship center directors in the United States. He served as chairman of the North American Entrepreneurial Studies Leadership Group and was recognized by the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship with its National Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education.
“I am excited to work with the talented leadership team at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business to develop the next generation of leaders in entrepreneurship and real estate,” Reid said. “I look forward to leveraging the outstanding interest levels and activities already in place among students, faculty, alumni, and the greater business community. Real estate is an important industry both globally and locally, and entrepreneurship is a powerful mechanism for transforming lives and economies. Georgetown has the opportunity to make a real difference in both of these areas.”
During the past year, Reid served on Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business Entrepreneurial Program advisory panel, making him familiar with the opportunities at the university. He holds an undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
