Andreasen to Speak at World Animal Forum

May 09, 2011

Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Professor of Marketing Alan Andreasen has been invited to brief leaders of the World Animal Forum on social marketing and its possible application to their concerns at their annual meeting in Banna, Italy, May 19-21, 2011.

The meeting brings together a small group of outside experts and chief executives of eight major international organizations including the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Maddies Fund, Humane Society International, Partnership for Animals, and the World Society for the Protection of Animals. The three-day meeting will explore the future of agriculture, specifically its current strong industrialization and how it can evolve to achieve long term overall sustainability while increasing food security and respecting humans, animals, and the environment.

The World Animal Forum is an independent association comprising leading chief executive officers of animal protection societies and selected guests from civil society, government, and business. The group acts as a catalyst for new thoughts and as a facilitator of exchange on areas of strategic importance to the animal protection movement.

Andreasen is a specialist in consumer behavior and a world leader in the application of marketing to nonprofit organizations, social marketing, and the market problems of disadvantaged consumers. He is the author or editor of 17 books (including revisions) and numerous monographs.
