Chryssa Zizos, owner of the Washington, D.C.-based Live Wire Media Relations, met with a group of Georgetown University MBA’s for an informal discussion on the making of her career and a question-and-answer session at the Monday, February 7, 2011, McDonough School of Business MBA Leaders Breakfast.

“Since I was very young, I knew I wanted to live and work in Washington, D.C.; I didn’t always know in what capacity, but I knew I was always driven to this city in some way and some how,” said Zizos.

One career trait that Zizos stressed was important in fulfilling her career goals was assertiveness. Approaching and communicating with decision makers in her areas of interest opened doors for Zizos. She noted that identifying what she wanted and going after it landed her high-profile positions such as the first-ever Congressional Head Page (a position she worked with then-Speaker of the House Tom Foley to create), an All-American athlete, a women’s sports and Title IX advocate, a Sports Illustrated writer, a publicist for the President’s Council on Physical Fitness with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and an entrepreneur who has been named one of the top “Women Who Mean Business” by the Washington Business Journal

When asked what door she hopes to open next, Zizos told the students she is thinking about returning to the political arena, including perhaps one day working in the White House.
