Building a Bridge of Hope

October 01, 2012

While in South Africa for his Global Experience consulting project, Jim Kyle had the opportunity to collaborate with nurses at the Jubilee District Hospital in Johannesburg. Also a nurse, Kyle saw the challenges that his counterparts there face and was inspired to find a way to help them overcome those challenges. The graduate student from the Executive Master’s in Leadership program at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business personally donated Samsung Galaxy tablets to encourage continued nursing leadership growth and development.

“The computers will be used to build a bridge of hope, so that we as nurses can continue our collaborative efforts to decrease the crisis in the country’s nursing personnel and nursing leadership,” he said. “I also plan to help my South African nursing counterparts learn to become better managers and leaders through vital resource sharing and nursing peer-to-peer support.”
