Entrepreneurship Day to Feature Larry Robertson on Taking the Entrepreneurial Leap

WHAT: 
Entrepreneurship Day is a highlight of the various entrepreneurial programs at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
 
1:30 pm - Keynote: “How to Take the Entrepreneurial Leap”
Larry Robertson, six-time award-winning author of A Deliberate Pause and founder and principal of Lighthouse Consulting. Robertson has 19 years of experience as a startup consultant in addition to pre-entrepreneurial work at J.P. Morgan and the Walt Disney Company.

2:15 pm - Panel: The Excitement of Entrepreneurship
  • Michael Goldstein: serial entrepreneur and founder of Endeavor DC, a DC-based startup incubator;
  • Brandon Partridge: CEO Skyland Foods, DC-based consumer-products entrepreneur;
  • Fahad Hassan: CEO Always Prepped, DC-based entrepreneur in education and technology who started and sold multiple companies before the age of 25;
  • Dan Berger: CEO Social Tables, social networking and event planning; left a consulting position to launch his own company;
  • Heather Gilchrist: education technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist.
3:30 pm - Panel: Beyond the Founder: The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
Jeff Reid, director of Georgetown’s Entrepreneurship Initiative, will serve as moderator.
  • Melissa Bradley: CEO of Tides Foundation, an incubator program for non-profits; social entrepreneur and chair of Georgetown Alumni Entrepreneurship Alliance;
  • Tony Surak: 5-year technology entrepreneur, co-founder of StartupHire.com;
  • Meghan Roman: marketer and public relations specialist for venture capital firms and startup companies;
  • James Patterson: entrepreneur in residence at Capital One Bank;
  •  Matt Myers: vice president of partner development at Personal.com; and
  •  Catherine Cook: co-founder of myYearbook.com (sold for $100 million in 2011); Georgetown McDonough BSBA 2011.
     
4:30 pm – Hoya Challenge Rocket Pitch Competition
Seventeen aspiring entrepreneurs will have two minutes each to pitch their business ideas in a high-energy format. A panel of experienced entrepreneurs and investors will provide feedback and award $2,500 in prize money.
