Georgetown Madness Basketball Tournament to Benefit Charity
August 31, 2010
The inaugural Georgetown Madness 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held Sunday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m. outside of the McDonough Gymnasium. All members of the Georgetown University community are invited to compete on teams by class year or graduate program. Alumni, local businesses, and other supporters also are welcome to participate.
The event is being organized by returning MBA student Dan Schlesinger, who is in transition from a career as a project manager for large-scale construction projects into one that aids low-income housing projects. All proceeds from Georgetown Madness will benefit Hope and a Home, a nonprofit organization that empowers local, low-income families with children to create stable homes and make lasting changes in their lives. Prizes include four seats to the Georgetown-Syracuse basketball game. Entertainment will be provided by the band Midnight Spin.
Registration is $30 per team of three or four players, and spectators are admitted free of charge. For more information, contact Schlesinger at firstname.lastname@example.org or (703) 217-4002.
