Georgetown McDonough Announces Commencement Speakers
LivingSocial CEO and Co-founder Tim O’Shaughnessy and Global CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited Barry Salzberg will speak at the undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremonies for Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Salzberg will address graduates of the MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Master’s in Leadership programs on Friday, May 18, at 12:30 p.m. O’Shaughnessy will speak to graduates in the undergraduate business program on Saturday, May 19, at 6 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place on the Healy Lawn. The rain location is the McDonough Arena.
Barry Salzberg is the global CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a globally connected network of member firms in more than 150 countries, with approximately 182,000 professionals. He assumed this position in 2011 after a distinguished career as a partner and then CEO of Deloitte LLP in the United States. Salzberg rose through the tax services side of the firm, becoming a tax partner and an acknowledged authority in the areas of personal-tax and partnership-tax matters.
Known in the marketplace for his commitment to building opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders and fostering diversity within the workplace, Salzberg serves as a board member of College Summit and Vanderbilt University’s Owen School of Management. He also is the chair of the Capital Steering Committee for the YMCA of Greater New York. Salzberg holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College, a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and an LLM in taxation from the New York University School of Law.
Tim O’Shaughnessy is the CEO and co-founder of LivingSocial, an online retailer of discounts to local businesses. He sets and communicates LivingSocial's core strategy and oversees growth of the online business. Before LivingSocial, O’Shaughnessy led the consumer products team at Revolution Health and managed product launches at AOL.
In 2010, O'Shaughnessy was named to Washington Business Journal's 40 Under 40 and Inc.com's 30 Under 30 list. LivingSocial earned the Hottest Venture Capital Deal award at the 2010 Northern Virginia Technology Council’s NVTC Hot Tickets Awards. He holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Georgetown McDonough.
