Following the World Trade Organization's recent agreement with the international pharmaceutical industry to provide developing nations with greater access to lifesaving medicines by altering global trade policy, more than 150 global health authorities, policy makers, pharmaceutical strategists, economists and intellectual property experts from 45 nations will explore the complex relationships between patents, innovation and public health. Delegates will discuss improving the relationship between the global patent system, new drug development, the pricing of drugs, and socially responsible ways of providing access to medicine for people in need.
