Booz Allen Hamilton and the Global Social Enterprise Initiative (GSEI) at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business have announced a partnership to identify and develop solutions to complex, large-scale issues utilizing Booz Allen’s MEGACOMMUNITIESSM approach.
“This partnership is a natural for Booz Allen because GSEI trains leaders across sectors to address major challenges in our society, while creating both economic and social value. In collaboration with Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business students and faculty, we will enhance our
MEGACOMMUNITIESSM approach while applying it to some of the most significant emerging issues of our time,” said Reggie Van Lee, Booz Allen executive vice president and Megacommunities co-author.
Booz Allen and GSEI will work to create global discussion around social enterprise and identify those issues best addressed by using the MEGACOMMUNITIESSM approach. In the initial project, GSEI will provide research support, analysis, and stakeholder identification related to an upcoming MEGACOMMUNITIESSM project in the United Arab Emirates aimed at reducing the incidence of diabetes in that region.
“Diabetes in the United Arab Emirates is an issue that lies at the fault line of both social well-being and economic stability, making it a prime candidate for a GSEI-Booz Allen partnership in employing the MEGACOMMUNITIESSM approach,” said Bill Novelli, founder of the Global Social Enterprise Initiative and Georgetown McDonough faculty member.
David Thomas, dean of the McDonough School of Business, said, “This is the kind of alliance that advances the McDonough School of Business’ commitment to serving both business and society.”
