Ronald Goodstein Speaks About the Future of Web Searching at Media Future Now Event

How are programs like Apple Apps changing the way consumers search for information? What does this mean for traditional search engines? These questions and others were addressed by Ronald Goodstein, associate professor of marketing at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, at the Media Future Now’s “Washington’s Best Minds on New Media and Content” event, held December 15, 2010.
Goodstein presented on the panel “Search: The Arrived Future of Media” with Vanessa Fox of Nine by Blue, Geoff Livingston of Zoetica and Livingston Communications, and Beth Shankle of the National Press Club. The group addressed how searches on the web are shifting from open-ended searches to more targeted queries through Apps and how the lines between traditional search engines, like Google and Yahoo!, and social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter, are becoming blurred.
