Students Kick Off Chinese New Year in Style
January 26, 2012
In anticipation of the 2012 Chinese New Year, members of the Greater China Business Association (GCBA) decorated Connelly Commons and Fisher Colloquium with traditional Chinese paper cutouts and scrolls. The first annual 2012 Chinese New Year celebration party on January 23 was organized by GCBA and sponsored by Student Government Association (SGA) and Georgetown University Chinese Students & Scholars Association (GUCSSA).
More than 100 people attended the celebration, including professors, faculty, MBA students and undergraduates. During the one-hour event, GCBA provided Chinese food and distributed Chinese cultural prizes to the winners of the Chinese tradition trivia and the Chinese language learning competitions. GCBA also raffled off a Chinese God of Treasury statue at the end of the event. GCBA will plan additional activities in the coming year to promote Chinese culture at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
