Board Member Dottie Hobin
Dottie Shea Hobin (B’ 97) followed her 3 older sisters, Carrie Shea Tilton (C’ 87), Alison Shea Knoll (B’ 91) and Maura Shea Flanagan (B’ 93) to Georgetown and graduated from the McDonough School of Business with a major in Marketing. After a few years as an Account Executive for Gauger & Silva in San Francisco, she realized her true passion was to work with children and obtained her teaching credentials. In 2000, she and her husband moved to Los Angeles where she taught for a couple of years prior to taking time off to be a full-time mom to her four children.
Throughout the past 10 years, Dottie has been very involved with the John and Dorothy Shea Foundation where she has assisted in granting money to fund sorely needed facility improvements and structural additions at inner-city Catholic schools. She has helped prioritize the projects, met on-site with the administrators, toured the schools, and often times found they needed more than what they were asking for in order to be successful with enrollment.
In addition, Dottie loves to travel and meet people from countries all over the world. A few years ago, she and her family lived a year abroad in Madrid, Spain and hopes to do it again in about 7 years when her youngest daughter is 14.
