Board Member Karen Modena
Karen Modena is an experienced consultant and a former partner at Ernst & Young’s Consulting Practice with over 25 years of experience (12 years as a partner) providing governance, risk management, internal audit, internal controls, banking compliance, and regulatory advisory services to some of the world’s largest global banks, asset management, and private equity firms. While at EY, Modena also led several diversity and inclusiveness programs and strategic talent programs such as Advancing Women Executives, Professional Women’s Network, Pan Asian Executives, and People Advisory Board. Modena was born and raised in the Philippines, earned her bachelor’s degree in accountancy at De La Salle University Philippines, obtained her Philippine CPA license, earning the 13th top score nationwide in 1993, and obtained her MBA degree from Georgetown University in 1999.
Modena is on the Women’s Board of City Year New York, an education-focused organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate. She also is a guest lecturer/mentor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a mentor at Baruch College’s Executives on Campus program, where she spends time mentoring several undergraduate and graduate business school students throughout the year. Additionally, she is a member of the Women’s Leadership Council at Fairfield University and a member of the Directorship and Corporate Governance Committee of the Financial Women’s Association. She and her husband, Mike, have three children and live in Long Island, New York.
