At Georgetown McDonough, we believe that business has no borders. Undergraduate and graduate students alike will find meaningful ways in which to learn about, and immerse themselves in, global business. In the classroom, professors teach through global cases and examples. Our diverse community includes faculty, staff, and students from around the world. Our location in Washington, D.C., presents opportunities to enjoy the numerous embassies, cuisines, and cultural activities of the international city. And, students can participate in numerous activities outside of the United States, ranging from study abroad and consulting projects to internships and career treks.

The Baratta Center for Global Business

Georgetown McDonough created the Baratta Center to lead the school’s global activities, including the signature Global Business Experience and the Global Business in Practice MOOC. With an advisory board of accomplished global executives, Baratta Center ensures that Georgetown McDonough students are learning at the forefront of emerging issues and trends.

The Global Business Experience

Georgetown McDonough provides students the opportunity to travel abroad to consult either within an industry or with specific Fortune 500 companies. The program is required of most graduate students and is an elective for undergraduates. Working in small teams, students partner with executives from different organizations to address complex business challenges.

* Additionally, through career treks MBA students travel domestically and internationally to network and learn about specifics industries. Recent locations include Mexico, Tanzania, and Tel Aviv.

Georgetown McDonough has partnered with the Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), Georgetown’s premier school of international affairs, to prepare students for work at the intersection of international public and private sector activities.

MBA Partnerships

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business offer a full-time, three-year program that leads to both MBA and Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) degrees. This dual program open only to full-time MBA students focuses on the global interdependence of business and government systems and is intended for students with strong interests in the relationship between foreign relations and global business.

Partnership with Universities Worldwide

Undergraduate students participate in McDonough’s signature study abroad courses at prestigious institutions such as ESADE, Oxford University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, or they can select from among more than 70 other partnership programs at the university.

Full-time MBA students also can choose from semester abroad programs at the London Business School, Beijing International MBA, HEC Paris, ESADE Business School, and IAE Business School.

Meaningful Engagements with the D.C. Community

Georgetown McDonough aims to strengthen the nexus between the multilateral organizations and embassies based in D.C. and our student community. We nurture these relationships by providing consulting opportunities to students and through signature events held on our campus or at the host organization’s venue.

Business Alumnus Makes Historic Gift to Establish International Undergraduate Scholarship

Seeking to smooth the path for international undergraduate students following in his footsteps at Georgetown, Bruno J. Mejean (B’75) and his wife, Martina Hund-Mejean, have established the Bruno J. Mejean and Martina Hund-Mejean Endowed International Scholarship Fund. Their $5 million gift—the largest dedicated to international undergraduate scholarship in Georgetown’s history—will support students enrolling in the McDonough School of Business.
