Financial Times and Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business are jointly sponsoring a series of forums that focus on the future of the global financial system and the associated public policy issues during the academic year 2009-10 (September 2009 to June 2010). The speakers, topics, formats, moderators, and other dimensions of the events are jointly determined by Financial Times and the McDonough School of Business.
The first partnership event was the "Future of Global Finance Conference" held September 18, 2009, in the McDonough School of Business Rafik B.Hariri Building Lohrfink Auditorium. Keynote speakers included Sheila Bair, chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; Mary Schapiro, chairman, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and Larry Summers, director of the White House Economic Council. The sold-out event was web cast on the school's Web site.
