The Global Business Initiative (GBI) will launch the school's first massive open online course (MOOC): Global Business in Practice. Through the edX platform, anyone in the world will be able to get an overall view of the increasingly complex challenges of global business from the insights, perspectives, and experience of Georgetown faculty and senior executives currently working in multinational companies and organizations.
The MOOC will feature lessons from professor Ricardo Ernst and fellow Georgetown faculty, as well as interviews with prominent global business leaders, including Joe Baratta, global head of private equity for Blackstone; Mark del Rosso, executive vice president and COO of Audi of America; Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO of Estée Lauder Companies; Franck Moison, vice chairman at Colgate-Palmolive; and Stephanie von Friedeburg, CIO at the World Bank, among others.
THE GLOBAL MBA CURRICULUM: GLOBAL IS IN OUR DNA
Core classes: MBA students begin the curriculum with Structure of Global Industries -- a highly integrated course that introduces them to the issues and industries they will focus on during their Global Business Experience and sets the tone for the entire MBA curriculum. Georgetown also pioneered the Global Business Experience -- a required global consulting project where students partner with executives from multinational organizations to address complex business challenges.
International business certificate with the Georgetown's School of Foreign Service (SFS): MBA students also have the opportunity to pursue an Honors Certificate Program with the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy (IBD). Through this highly competitive, interdisciplinary program, students will learn to maximize the benefits that globalization of trade, investment, and technology can bring to citizens in developed and developing countries.
Georgetown McDonough also offers four semester abroad programs for full-time MBA students:
- The London Business School,
- Beijing International MBA
- HEC Paris
- ESADE Business School (Barcelona)
- IAE Business School
GLOBAL BUSINESS FELLOWS PROGRAM
The Global Business Fellows Program is part of an innovative partnership with the McDonough School of Business, which also includes the Global Business Major. The Global Business Fellows Program offers a combined cohort experience for select students from the SFS and MSB.
An important strength of the Global Business Fellows Program is that the common core will give SFS students access to MSB courses, and vice versa. The global business curriculum also allows students flexibility to choose from a set of high-level business and international affairs courses beyond the core. Students will work with a dedicated academic advisor to allow them to tailor course selection to their individual strengths and interests.
