Veterans Benefits
Georgetown University is a proud participant of the Yellow Ribbon Program, which is available to military students who are 100% eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits and are not on active duty or receiving transferred benefits from a spouse on active duty.
The Veterans Office serves as a liaison and advisor to ensure prospective and current military students receive accurate and comprehensive information about finances and access to veterans benefits.

Student Life
McDonough seeks to make the transition back to the classroom as seamless as possible. Before class even begins, we host a Vet Pre-Orientation to set expectations and highlight resources to prepare you for the coursework. Questions as simple as what to wear to class (casual, unless otherwise specified) will be covered, as we know that some of our veteran students will be making a cultural transition as well by returning to school.
Student Activities for Veterans
The McDonough Military Association (MMA) is a group of veteran students who form both a social and professional network to promote engagement and outreach. This organization facilitates career-oriented professional development and provides opportunities to serve the broader community.
War Stories: This annual event is hosted by the MMA and provides the platform for our veteran students to share their military experiences with the broader McDonough community.
VetImpact: Students gain consulting experience by doing pro-bono consulting work for veteran-owned businesses.
Speaker Series: The MMA hosts prestigious members of the military community to share their experiences and provide a broader network of professional connections for our students. Of note, we have hosted Colin Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to share insights from his years of service.
Additional Resources For Your Life at McDonough
For students who are relocating to be closer to McDonough, the Office of Neighborhood Life has numerous resources to find housing in our local neighborhoods. Georgetown University also provides the GUTS shuttle system to provide free transportation to campus from surrounding locales. For students with families, Georgetown Partners and Families provides a social and professional and network for spouses and partners as they also make the transition to a new community and Georgetown McDonough.

Matthew Devlin
Matthew Devlin is the President of the McDonough Military Association and a full time MBA student. Matthew grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Union College for his undergraduate degree. Following college, he joined the Marine Corps where he served four years as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle Officer in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and deployed to the Arctic Circle in Norway. He is currently serving as Executive Officer at 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion in Virginia Beach, VA. Matt decided to pursue his MBA to gain the skills necessary to pivot into Finance or Consulting.
Alex La Bruno
Alex La Bruno is the Executive Vice President of the McDonough Military Association and a full-time MBA student. Prior to McDonough, he served as an active duty Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He led units in southern California and Japan, and completed his active duty service teaching, coaching, and mentoring infantry Marines before their deployment around the globe. He currently serves as a reservist at the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab assisting in force design transformation. He calls Philadelphia home and is pursuing a career in management consulting.
James Bird
James Bird is the Vice President of Finance for the McDonough Military Association. James grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Montana for his undergraduate degree. Following college, he joined the Marine Corps where he served as a Manpower Officer for seven and a half years, deploying to the Middle East and Horn of Africa. James decided to pursue his MBA to gain the skills necessary to pivot into Investment Banking.
Alex Jukowski
Alex Jukowski is one of the Vice Presidents of Admissions for the McDonough Military Association. Alex grew up in the Detroit area and attended American University for his undergraduate degree. After graduating and working in the civilian sector, Alex enlisted in the United States Army as an airborne infantryman. He was stationed in Fort Richardson and deployed once to Afghanistan. Alex chose to pursue his MBA at Georgetown McDonough to pivot into a financial services career.
Kyle Koos
Kyle Koos is one of the Vice Presidents of Admissions for the McDonough Military Association. Before coming to Georgetown, he was a Signal Officer in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he held Network and Communications Manager roles. Kyle has moved all over the country but calls Southern California home.
Paul Sturrup
Paul Sturrup is one of the Vice Presidents of Admissions for the McDonough Military Association. He is a full-time MBA student at Georgetown McDonough School of Business. Originally from Orlando, Florida, he attended Florida State University for his undergraduate degree. Paul served in the United States Army for 6 years, as a Transportation and Logistics Officer. He worked with the 1st and 3rd Infantry Divisions, and supported operations across the U.S. and in Eastern Europe. He is pursuing a career in management consulting with a focus in supply chain.
