McDonough School of Business

Executive MBA Academics

Explore the customizable, interdisciplinary coursework designed to strengthen your leadership skills and enhance your career.

Curriculum

The Executive MBA is designed to allow working professionals to earn an advanced business degree without interrupting their careers. Students have the ability to define their areas of focus through elective choices and capstone project topics. In the first year, EMBA students master the fundamentals of business. In the second year, students can customize their experience through 10 elective course choices and a global capstone project. Students also complete the remaining core courses focused on geopolitics and business, ethics, new business ventures, and business-government relations.

Academic Schedule

The program begins in August and spans 21 months, culminating with a May graduation date. With alternating in-person and online class weekends, students gain the in-person experiences of a campus-based education with the added flexibility to ensure personal and professional balance.

Monthly, in-person classes are held on Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. In between, students attend one synchronous online Saturday session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, three domestic five-day residencies and two weeklong international experiences immerse students in real-world business projects.

Faculty

EMBA classes are led by experienced faculty who offer practical and applicable knowledge and who are equally committed to our students as mentors beyond the classroom. This group of noted experts and educators understand the nuances of international business and deliver rich, practical insights to our Executive MBA students.
