The harmful use of alcohol is a global health risk, and underage drinking is a widespread problem with serious negative consequences for young users and for society.
To address this issue, the AB InBev Foundation has formed a partnership with the Global Social Enterprise Initiative (GSEI) at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business to work on changing social norms and reducing youth alcohol use, beginning in South Africa.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Georgetown, and adding their social impact and social marketing expertise we need to make a real difference in people’s lives,” said Scott Ratzan, president, AB InBev Foundation.
Gael O’Sullivan (C'80) has been appointed GSEI’s director of the program. O’Sullivan is an expert in worldwide health communication, advocacy and social and commercial marketing.
“As a Georgetown graduate myself, I am delighted to bring my global health and behavior change background to GSEI to address harmful drinking in South Africa and other parts of the world.”
