Christine Porath, associate professor of management at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, has received a 2016 Nautilus Award for her book, Mastering Civility: A Manifesto for the Workplace.
In Mastering Civility, Porath shows how people can enhance their influence and effectiveness with civility. Combining scientific research with evidence from popular culture and fields such as neuroscience, medicine, and psychology, the book provides managers and employers with a much-needed wake-up call, while also reminding them of what they can do right now to improve the quality of their workplaces.
The Nautilus Book Awards recognize publications in the genre of social and environmental justice that make a difference and inspire. Past recipients include the Dalai Lama, Deepak Chopra, Barbara Kingsolver, and Desmund Tutu.
Porath’s book earned a silver award in the business and leadership category.
