    Georgetown MBAs Place 4th in CNBC Investment Challenge

    A team of MBA students from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business placed fourth overall in the CNBC "Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge MBA Face-Off." Additionally, team member and MBA Evening Program student Angel Irazola earned individual honors for his portfolio.

  • MBA Students Trek Around the Globe Exploring Career Options

    MBA students at Georgetown's McDonough School of Business recently spent a week-long break between classes traveling domestically and internationally to network and learn about specific industries through Career Treks.
     
    Whether learning about energy or consulting in Washington, finance on Wall Street, marketing along the East Coast, or opportunities in Dubai, Hong Kong, or Madrid, students had the opportunity to interact with business leaders and network with Georgetown alumni within each community. Some even secured job interviews and job offers during the treks.

    The Georgetown Operations & Management Association (GOMA) hosted to its second-annual operations and management conference, Global Operations in a Shrinking World, Friday, November 18, 2011 at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

    This semester, three MBA students partnered with veteran support organization Team Red, White, and Blue (Team RWB) in an independent study to develop the organization’s advocacy program to support wounded veterans and their families.

  • Georgetown Movember Team Surpasses $20,000 Goal and Looks to Regain #1 Position

    With November winding to a close, the mustache-clad MBA Movember team at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business is still dedicated to raising awareness and funding for men’s health. The group has more than doubled its original goal of $10,000 – collecting over $21,500 and placing it at the heels of the first-place team from London Business School (LBS) in the MBA Challenge.

  • GE Case Competition

    MBA Students Place Second in GE Case Competition

    A team of Georgetown MBA students recently earned second place at the GE Case Competition Mid-Atlantic challenge, coming in one vote shy of winning the entire contest.

    At the event, students were asked to help GE solve a real-life business challenge regarding innovation in Brazil.  The students selected to compete, after an on-campus selection challenge, were Taraneh Bastani, Darren Gao, Matthew Nielsten, Robert Papallo, and Li Zhang.  Alternates selected were Michael Henriod, Ema Kamara, and Oscar Vidal.

    Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will host Unleashing Ideas, the Washington, D.C., kick-off event for Global Entrepreneurship Week, which involves more than 10 million people in over 120 countries coming together to inspire and challenge both aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.

    Georgetown Net Impact Chapter Leaders Receive National Award

    The co-presidents of the Net Impact chapter at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business recently were awarded the Net Impact Leadership Award for their dedication to the organization. MBA students Elly Drygas and Kate Reid were two of only 11 students recognized from the more than 280 nationwide chapters nationwide. They each received a one-year paid Net Impact membership as a prize.
